Janine Goodwin

Janine was admitted as a solicitor in February 2011 and as a public notary in 2017.

Prior to joining Watts McCray – Northern Beaches, Janine worked at a general practice firm on the Northern Beaches and a boutique firm in Sydney City, where she practiced in a wide range of matters, including family law, commercial and civil litigation, property law, and estate planning.

Janine’s Family Law experience includes acting for clients in respect of binding financial agreements, divorce, property settlement, parenting arrangements and relocation and recovery matters. She is able to assist clients who are married, from same-sex and de facto couples and single parents.

Janine’s estate planning experience includes advising on and the preparation of Wills, Enduring Power of Attorney and Appointment of Enduring Guardian (including Advance Care Directive provisions) documents.

Janine’s Public Notary experience includes verifying documents for use internationally, which require legalisation through the Department of Foreign Affairs.

While Janine enjoys litigation, she considers it a worthy challenge to keep disputes from reaching the Courts, placing an emphasis on achieving commercial outcomes for her clients. Janine aims to reduce conflict while problem-solving and adopting the right strategy to achieve a just and equitable outcome. Janine provides her clients with professional and personal service, leaving them with a comprehensive understanding of their options, rights, and responsibilities.

Janine has experience representing clients in the Local and District Courts of New South Wales, the Supreme Court of NSW, the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, and in Mediation and other forms of dispute resolution.

Janine is approachable and empathetic, providing comfort to her clients who are often going through a tumultuous time in their lives and can assist no matter how complicated or not a matter is, understanding that no two families and clients have been in the same situation.

Janine has lived in the Northern Beaches for over 24 years, and she is now raising her three young children in the local area.
